Hosting quote comparison calculator

Compare two website hosting quotations over three years, including renewal prices and annual extras.

YOUR ESTIMATE

Enable JavaScript to calculate using your inputs.

Your inputs stay in your browser. An estimate, not a quote.

How the calculation works

Each total = first-year hosting + two annual renewals + three years of extras. The signed difference is Plan A minus Plan B: negative means A costs less, positive means B costs less. Prices are examples, not vendor quotes. Taxes, migration costs, one-time fees and changing rates are excluded. Compare equivalent capacity, backups and support.

Before you decide

Run a low, expected and high-cost scenario. Confirm contract terms and what is excluded, then keep the assumptions alongside your result. A precise calculation is only as useful as the figures you put into it.

INTERPRET THE RESULT

Use the number as a decision aid.

Make the plans equivalent first

Compare the same website workload and the same contract period. Record storage, database support, backup retention, restore process, email inclusion and resource limits. A three-year total is not meaningful when one plan includes recovery help and the other leaves every restore to the owner.

A worked three-year example

Suppose Plan A is $48 in year one, renews at $108 and includes $12 of annual extras. Its three-year total is $48 + $108 + $108 + $36 = $300. Plan B is $84 every year with no extras, also $252. The $48 difference matters, but so do the upfront commitment and the work required to move later.

Read limits beyond storage

Shared hosting can limit CPU time, memory, processes, database connections or scheduled tasks. “Unlimited” storage does not describe these constraints or guarantee speed. Ask for the provider documentation relevant to your application, and test the actual site before making a long commitment.

Plan a reversible decision

Keep control of the domain, maintain an independent backup and know how to export files and databases. Note the cancellation deadline and renewal date. A hosting choice becomes less risky when you can recover or move the site without depending on one provider account.

Read each hosting quotation line by line

Put the two quotations beside the calculator and match the same items: contract length, renewal amount, setup, backups, restore help, email, SSL, migration and tax. If a line appears in one quote but not the other, do not treat a blank as zero until the supplier confirms it. Record the date and currency of each quote so the comparison can be checked before purchase.

Review point: save the assumptions with the result and replace examples with current quotes. Recheck the decision before a renewal or material scope change.
